Frequently Asked Questions

Nappa colours

The word nappa after a colour eg. Black Nappa refers to the type of finish that has been applied to the suede side of the sheepskin. It is a clear resin that gives it a shiny finish just like an old WW2 flying jacket. Nappa colours can also be wiped down with a damp cloth to remove some dirt and stains. Cream cleaner is also available on our web site to keep the Nappa shiny and new looking.

Size and fitting instructions

When trying on your footwear for the first time, it may feel very tight across your toes and instep. This is nothing to worry about as it will within an hour or so loosen off as the 3/4 inch long wool starts to bed down and gives your feet more room if they need it. So do not order a size bigger than you usually have otherwise they will end up too big for you.

Washing instructions for footwear

Unless otherwise indicated all Celtic footwear is machine washable at 40 degrees (maximum) or less. We recommend using our own Celtic Wool Wash and washing on a wool cycle, but be aware that items may take several days to dry. Once washed, allow to dry naturally. Some fading of the sheepskin may occur. To see our range of cleaning products please click here.
