SHEEPSKIN SLIPPERS

Sheepskin Slippers
We have been making our sheepskin bootee slippers since the early 1990s, and our entire slipper collection is one of the largest selling divisions within our Celtic Sheepskin range. Within the range we feature sheepskin slippers made by hand in our Cornish factory alongside other sheepskin and leather slippers, which we design and have made for us. We have limits to how many slippers we can make as we also make all our sheepskin boot styles by hand! In total we hand-make 5 out of 12 styles, and within these five styles there are different heights, colours and finishes to ensure that our customers have a variety of choice. All our hand-made sheepskin slippers are made by skilled staff who make and check our footwear at every stage of production to ensure excellence. The sheepskins used are a by-product of the meat industry and we source only genuine British sheepskins, purchased from the last remaining UK footwear tannery. One key feature of our hand-made slippers is that all but our Dita Slippers are machine washable. It’s not very often that sheepskin products can be washed in a machine, so this adds to the reasons why so many love our slippers.
Our original sheepskin slipper is the Celt Bootee slipper, which is currently made in 16 different colours for adults. Like our outdoor Celt Boot, our Celt Bootees are suitable for both men and women, and there’s also a Kid’s Bootee version. A great feature of the Celt Bootee is that your feet are completely wrapped in sheepskin, but the slipper is still extremely light and utterly comfortable (the fleece wraps around your foot, to create an impression inside that fits each foot perfectly). The Celt Bootee also features a rubber sole, which although this is designed for indoor wear, is durable enough to take a small amount of wear outside for moments when you need to nip and put out the bins in the drizzling rain. It wasn’t long after the Celt Bootee hit the shelves that the Celt Mule followed. With similar features to the Bootee, with the colour spectrum you can choose, the durable sole and delightful lightweight properties, the difference is found in the shape; they are backless. Many love to step out of bed and slip their feet into a sheepskin slipper without reaching down, and for these people our Celt Mules are perfect.
Once the Celt Mule and Bootee found their footing (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves!) Celtic Sheepskin quickly designed a clog, around a brief to “fill the gap between Celt Boots in the winter and sandals in the summer”. Although these were designed for outdoor use, the clogs soon became a favourite alternative to our other sheepskin slippers. Following these, the House Boot was the next style to be designed and hand-made by us. Made in exactly the same way as an outdoor boot, the House Boot features a “slipper sole”, which has a shallow, less rugged grip, so it doesn’t bring dirt into your house. It was much later again that our final hand-made sheepskin slipper, the Dita, was made for Autumn Winter 2008. It’s perhaps the only style of slipper we make, which leaves our customers either loving or hating it! Fashion editors from the Telegraph and Easy Living have featured the slipper as their favourite for wearing in between seasons, and as the majority of the year is either spring or autumn thanks to the ever-changing climate, we also sit on the side of the “lovers”!
