'ATTITUDES HAVE CHANGED TO ETHICAL CLOTHING'

A new article has discussed how attitudes towards ethical clothing have changed over the years.

In a piece for the Independent, Martin Hickman suggested that before Fairtrade and the debate over labour policies, it seemed strange to focus on how such products were sourced.

However, he added the rise of organically manufactured items and a tendency for people to act in a more environmentally-responsible manner has potentially made Britain "a nation of ethical consumers".

Mr Hickman went on to say many large retailers have failed to take advantage of this and the "surge in interest in using shopping as an agent of change" that is seeing the market shift.

One celebrity who recently offered her support to the ethical clothing sector is actress Emma Watson.

The star - who many may know as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series of movies - confirmed she had been working as a creative adviser on a new line of products aimed at the younger market.
