The international fair OutDoor is set to be held between July 15th-18th and will focus on topics including sustainable materials.

According to Innovation in Textiles, a "major factor" considered by today's consumers is whether outdoor clothing is functional, as well as proving to be versatile for everyday events.

Features of outdoor clothing that are favoured include moisture management, breathability, waterproofing and odour protection, the publication noted.

"Time for leisure, hiking and travel are emotional aspirations for large segments of the population," said Stefan Rosenkranz, managing director of Salewa, who added consumers like to "identify themselves with outdoor clothing that's increasingly combining functionality with style".

Sustainable materials will also be discussed, along with manufacturers becoming more transparent about the supply chain and production, which could include making more clothes like children's wool knitwear in a retailer's home country.

Visitors from 72 countries are expected to attend the event, which last year saw 810 exhibitors.
