BRITISH WOOL AND YARN INDUSTRY 'SET TO MAINTAIN STRONG PRICES'
The British wool and yarn industry is doing well, according to results of the first of the season's auction sales.
Bradford was home to the initial auction of the wool season, the Scotsman reports, with prices proving strong.
Gareth Jones from the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) was quoted as saying: "The BWMB is anticipating that the improved demand for wool will help sustain higher prices into next year."
And it looks like these prices will continue during future sales, he added, stating all indications show the costs will be maintained.
The BWMB has recently introduced a new method of collecting wool, which may well be proving to assist the yarn industry.
Mr Jones explained intermediate depots have been set up around the country and these have all witnessed a busy few months.
The organisation, which was set up in 1950, is the UK's only remaining agricultural commodity board.
