BRITS 'WILL BUY' ETHICAL CLOTHES
More Brits are willing to pay more for ethical fashion, according to the designer Christopher Raeburn.
He added that although the mainstream would still shop in the same way there was a "growing number of people looking for ethical fashion".
"They are prepared to spend a little bit more money because they can see it has been made in England and they can see the quality," he explained.
According to Mintel, sales of ethical clothing reached £175 million this year - more than quadruple the amount of five years ago.
The market is said to be going from strength to strength, Mintel explained, as people take more interest in the impact that clothes have on the environment.
Mr Raeburn remarked that being ethical did not always mean making organic clothing, but it also referred to a different way of working that was more ethical.
He added that some designers try to create "zero waste" while others use new technologies or different fabrics to try and limit their environmental impact.
