ETHICAL CLOTHING 'LIKELY TO BE SEEN ON THE STREETS OF LEEDS'
Ethical clothing fans are most likely to be spotted out and about on the streets of Leeds, new research suggests.
A study by Vauxhall Motors has found nearly half of Brits find the city's street fashion the most inspiring, beating London as the clothing capital of the UK.
Nearly two fifths of locals say they do not follow rules when picking outfits, combining ethical clothing with accessories and customisations that allow them to stand out from the crowd.
This contrasts with the one in four Londoners, who take a more traditional approach to fashion and get their inspiration from celebrity magazines and high street windows.
Martyn Roberts, Vauxhall Fashion Scout Director, claims that Leeds' fashion status is a well-known fact.
He states: "Walking around Leeds you see a kind of style-conscious competitiveness in the way people dress and that is inspiring and exciting for trend-spotters.
Earlier this month, How Green Are My Wellies? author Anna Shepherd called for shoppers to be more aware of the social and environmental issues behind fashion, which could lead to a rise in the number of people buying ethical clothing.
