Fair-trade clothing could play a part in plans by the fashion industry to make the sector more focused on sustainability.

On April 23rd, the Estethica press day event took place at London's Somerset House and looked at the issue.

Ethical fashion was discussed by representatives from the industry and experts on sustainability.

According to co-curator of Estethica Orsolo de Castro: "Fashion has an incredible power to lead."

Fair-trade clothing could have a role in promoting the importance of sustainability and eco-consciousness.

Ms de Castro states certain industries such as food and architecture have already adopted this message.

Other panel members joining the co-curator at last week's event included Grazia fashion editor Melanie Rickey and Charty Durrant, former fashion editor of the Sunday Times, the Observer and British Vogue and lecturer in Contemporary Communication at the London College of Fashion.

The initiative is now in its seventh season and states it has experienced rapid growth.ADNFCR-2444-ID-19743985-ADNFCR
