FAIR-TRADE 'POPULAR AMONG THE YOUNG'
Fair-trade clothing is proving popular among the young, according to research.
Lightspeed Research surveyed people for Marketing Week and it was revealed that fair-trade products are more likely to give young people a better opinion of the brand than those which do not have the guarantee.
Older customers were also reported to feel loyalty to those items which are fair-trade.
Some seventy per cent of those responding to the survey said that fair-trade genuinely benefits producers and growers.
This year should be good for those who stock such products, it was added. Marketing director of Fairtrade Cheryl Sloane said buyers should also be aware that the Fairtrade stamp guarantees producers refuse child labour and have met environmental standards.
According to Marketing Week, Brits are beginning to understand that "good business is worth paying for".
In December 2009 it was reported that NHS staff are to begin wearing fair-trade uniforms in trusts around the country.
