SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS 'TAKEN SERIOUSLY AT GUARDIAN'

Sustainable materials are taken seriously by the Guardian, which has defended its right to produce fashion reports.

Fashion editor Jess Cartner-Morley said she strongly believes in green and ethical issues, however some people question whether a newspaper with such morals should report about fashion at all.

She noted very few individuals buy a whole new wardrobe every year and her writing encourages people to update the items they already have, rather than purchasing new pieces.

The fashion team tries "to avoid where we can the idea that an item is this week's must-have. Fashion is not just about spending money but about being aware of the world around you and the changes in the mood and spirit", Ms Cartner-Morley stated.

Investing in sustainable materials, like ladies' knitwear, could highlight how a good quality item of clothing - which may be that little bit more expensive - can last a long time and prove to be a good investment.

Wool knitwear and ladies' sheepskin boots can transcend seasons and go with the majority of outfits, making them ideal for wardrobes.
