UK 'IS THE LEADER OF ETHICAL CLOTHING'
Ethical clothing is at its best in the UK, according to an industry expert.
Associate director of the Ethical Fashion Forum Josie Nicholson said: "London is now seen as the leader in ethical fashion."
Much of this progression is down to consumers asking for more ethical products.
But the country's designers have also got involved and brought the issue to light.
Ms Nicholson explained that London Fashion Week has shown just how popular ethical clothing has become.
Vivienne Westwood in particular has played an influential role in persuading people to buy responsibly.
Environment minister Fan Norris recently said that sustainable clothing would be the "fashion of the future".
An announcement by the department for environment, food and rural affairs also added that many of fashion's key brands are looking and changing their environmental footprint.
The Fairtrade Foundation recently reported that there has been a large increase in demand for ethical products, despite the economic downturn.
