FASHION STUDENT KEEPS WOOL KNITWEAR IN THE FAMILY
A budding fashion student has used wool knitwear to pay tribute to his family.
David Stoneman-Merret studies fashion at Kingston University and has a particular interest in wool knitwear, reports thisiskent.co.uk.
During an internship in New York, the student decided to base his future designs around the elderly and has printed an image of his grandmother on one item of clothing.
"In New York I saw lots of really eccentric characters, mostly older people, wearing weird and wonderful outfits," he told the publication.
As well as the oversized jumper, Mr Stoneman-Merret has created socks, sleepsuits, chunky scarves and hats.
His interest in knitwear may have stemmed from being taught the art of knitting by his mother and aunt.
After showing the collection at Graduate Fashion Week, the designer decided not to sell the items of men's knitwear.
Wool was a common theme among many of the designs on display at the event, held at London's Earls Court this week, according to the Times Online.
