MILAN MEN'S FASHION WEEK SHOWCASES KNITWEAR
Men's knitwear has been a popular choice at Milan Men's Fashion Week, according to the news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Frida Giannini chose to display knitwear as part of Gucci's spring/summer 2011 collection, with the woollen items used to complete a typical evening outfit.
Sustainable materials may have also been in use, as designers highlighted the importance of eco-fashion, AFP notes.
"Italy's fashion giants embraced green themes and eco-chic at the men's shows in Milan this week, laying grass on walkways and wrapping models in eco-friendly fabrics," explains the writer.
Celtic embroidery was used in the Etro show, with natural colours and sustainable fabrics such as cotton a key feature.
Alongside the eco look, shorts are also a key trend for next year's menswear, the news agency reveals.
Fashion writers at the Observer recently suggested shorts could be smartened up to achieve a stylish and suave look this summer.
Tailored shorts were teamed with a vest and a baggy shirt as an example of how to achieve this trend.
