NEW ANTI-SWEATSHOP CAMPAIGN PROMOTES ETHICAL CLOTHING
A new campaign has been launched to encourage people to buy more ethical clothing in order to avoid endorsing companies that use sweatshops.
The Love Fashion Hate Sweatshops initiative aims to encourage a movement unmatched in size to push for improved conditions for those making clothes.
While acknowledging the successes people have achieved against sweatshop fashion, it says it is crucial to take the campaign to the next level.
"It's worth reflecting on what we've done - and how far we've come. Doing so will make that final push towards a sweatshop-free world a bit easier," it claims.
The campaign emphasises high-profile successes such as the Companies Act 2006, requiring businesses to report on the environmental and social impact they have, and the improved visibility of these issues in the media.
It recently highlighted the important role that fashion can have in improving conditions while still looking great, lovers of ethical fashion may be interested to discover.
