SHEEP SHEARING COULD PROVIDE INSIGHT INTO KNITWEAR
Those interested in how knitwear is made and crafted might like to watch sheep being sheared and see the process from the start.
Doing so seems to have proved popular in the US, where an annual sheep-shearing event took place over the weekend.
Held yesterday (May 9th) at the Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site in Berks County, the day allowed people to gain an insight into knitwear.
Visitors watched as sheep of all shapes and sizes lost their coats for the summer.
And the crowds could see how the wool was then used to provide clothes and other goods.
Sharon Semet told Reading Eagle her children had enjoyed the day out, which coincided with Mother's Day in the US.
"They've never seen sheep getting sheared, so I think it's neat for them," she told the publication.
According to the Somerset County Gazette, this weekend might be the perfect time for families to see UK shearing in action.
The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Smallholder and Garden Festival will take place, which will also feature events such as ferret racing and craft exhibitions.
