BWMB TO GIVE WOOL KNITWEAR DEMO IN HARROGATE
Wool knitwear may be on display at Harrogate's Countryside Days as the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) holds forums on the industry.
Supported by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, the events will be held on June 15th and 16th and aim to enhance the region's farming trade.
The BWMB plans to attend both days and host a shearing demonstration, which is set to go on to explain how wool is produced.
Marketing of wool knitwear and other products made from the sustainable material will be among the topics discussed by the body.
According to the BWMB, there has recently been a surge in the popularity of sheep shearing.
This was seen at the Devon County Show, where a strong turnout came to watch the skilled farmers and shearers in action.
Shearing manager for the board Colin MacGregor said: "We're seeing a lot more people take up shearing and that's a very encouraging trend for the sheep sector and for rural skills in general."
