CAMPAIGNER HIGHLIGHTS SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS AND ECO FASHION
Sustainable material and eco fashion could become better known after an effort by a campaigner to draw attention to the issue.
Sheena Matheiken from New York wore the same dress for 365 days running, in a bid to raise money for The Akanksha Foundation.
The organisation aims to educate and assist children in India's slums, but Ms Matheiken also wanted to highlight sustainable fashion and its important role.
She wore the same black tunic dress and reinvented it with accessories and other items of clothing, the campaigner revealed in an interview with CNN.
"I want people to see the value in their closet," Ms Matheiken told the news source.
Eco-friendly designers all assisted her in the project by donating items such as shoes, tops and colourful tights.
Asked how others could make something plain look more interesting, Ms Matheiken stated: "Accessorising can go a long way to elevate something."
People might find they can apply this theory with items of wool knitwear, such as a ladies' cardigan.
By wearing the clothing with different ensembles, a completely new look could be created.
