CHILDREN'S OUTDOOR CLOTHING 'MUST BE HARD-WEARING'
Hard-wearing garments are the key children's outdoor clothing trends this year, an expert asserts.
Linda McLean, fashion director at Junior magazine, claims that traditional items with a modern twist are among the styles that will be popular this year.
She says that tartans and tweeds will be highly sought after, as well as items in colours such as green and grey.
Among the key fashions for boy's coats will be a shiny finish, she advises.
Ms McLean also highlights the advantages of accessories, recommending backpacks as a way of distributing weight while leaving the hands free, those looking at children's outdoor clothing may be interested to discover.
She says: "Red, purple, bottle green and grey are the most popular colours this winter."
Recent research from Sheila's Wheels home insurance suggests that three quarters of parents are cutting back on their clothing spend in the run up to term starting, although one in five parents admit to spending between £500 and £1,000 a year on children's clothing.
