CONSIDER MENS JUMPERS 'IN ALTERNATIVES TO BLACK'

When purchasing a mens jumper, some may be tempted to opt for a colour considered "safe" and choose black.

But not all males suit this shade, warns Simon Crompton from Style Crave, so it is often best to look at other possibilities.

He says: "Black does suit some people. It suits those with black hair, most obviously. But those men would also be said to have high-contrast complexions and this is the more important point."

Pale men tend to be washed out by this hue, as their complexions are not high-contrast enough.

An option worth considering when buying a mens jumper is navy.

This shade tends to suit anybody, according to Mr Crompton, as it can be worn in varying degrees to make it appropriate for all occasions.

Alternatively, those who already own a mens jumper but want to make the knitwear more suited to their complexion could try teaming it with a shirt.

Wearing a garment underneath the jumper in a colour that suits the individual's skin tone may soften the effect of the black.
