FARMER FASHION 'INSPIRING AUTUMN'S COUNTRY CLOTHING'
Country clothing is increasingly being inspired by the fashions worn by Northumberland farmers, an expert asserts.
Julia Robson, writing for the National, claims that so-called farmer fashion is "the new grunge".
It highlights trends such as brogues, breeks and earthy colours, as these will grow in popularity.
She says wardrobe staples like outdoor coats are increasingly following designs originally based on practicality rather than posing.
Among the key items that form this trends are cords, jodhpurs or jeans, shirt and t-shirt and an earthy coloured jacket, often made from traditional country clothing materials.
Ms Robson says that many outdoor coats will include "details like pockets or belt loops to hold a brace of pheasants or air rifle".
Last month, Junior magazine's fashion director Linda McLean claimed that outdoor clothing trends for children will emphasise hard-wearing characteristics.
She says traditional items with a modern twist will be the most popular country clothing items for autumn.
