HUNDREDS CREATE WOOL KNITWEAR IN RECORD ATTEMPT
Hundreds of people gathered to create wool knitwear in Toronto, Canada, in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the most knitters knitting in one place at any time.
Unfortunately the existing record was not broken, but almost 200 people attended the event, InsideToronto.com reported.
Initially the attempt was planned for June 12th as part of World Wide Knit in Public (WWKiP) Day, however it had to be delayed until the following day due to bad weather.
Mary Breen was one of the organisers and told the publication: "Certainly, we lost a lot of people in the transition."
But she claimed the day set an "unofficial Canadian world record" and dubbed it "a big knitting picnic".
Wool knitwear was created by many participants, with one woman finishing a hat during the afternoon, according to Ms Breen.
WWKiP Day began in 2005 and was established by Danielle Landes in an attempt to get knitters to come together and meet others.
