KNITWEAR FEATURES AT ALTERNATIVE FASHION SHOW
Knitwear is back on the catwalk at Alternative Fashion Week held in Spitalfields this week.
"Directional knitwear" was on show as the event began yesterday (April 19th), according to the East London Advertiser.
The inspiration for these items is thought to include afternoon tea, with designers dressing models in outfits resembling cookery book creations.
"Grandma Betty's Lemon Tart" is among the creations, which also featured mannequins wearing "cup and saucer hats".
Designers from around the world have arrived at the show and 14 will be allowed to showcase their collections each day.
Russia, India and Japan are just some of the countries taking part in the Alternative Fashion Week.
Earlier this year catwalks in the world's fashion capitals featured knitwear in their upcoming autumn/winter collections.
New York Fashion Week included cashmere bodysuits and other woollen items chosen by designers such as Michael Kors, fashion writers for the Daily Telegraph revealed.
