Ms Cochrane explains many designers chose to exhibit a "grunge glamour" vibe in recent catwalk shows that can be achieved by teaming chunky jumpers with a maxiskirt.
Alternatively, pair the knitwear with a skinny belt or opt for a cardigan worn as a dress, the writer advises.
One star likely to be sporting this style is Tamzin Outhwaite, who recently told the Daily Mail she owns around 30 different cashmere jumpers, which she wears with skinny jeans.
