Ladies knitwear is to be used as artwork around Canada, it has been revealed.

During the annual Winterlude festival in Ottowa, Canadians will dress objects around the city in fashionable ladies knitwear, CBC news reported today (January 21st).

Lampposts and trees are among the items that are to be given a fashionable edge, in the project known as "knit graffiti".

"We'll have a really colourful environment … that's inviting and not just cold and wintry but also warm and cosy," said the organiser of the showcase Melanie Yugo.

Giant ice sculptures will also appear around the city, alongside the knitwear-adorned benches and other objects.

Other towns are due to take part around the country, including Gatineau, Nova Scotia and Alberta.

People may attend workshops to first learn how to knit and crochet, before displaying their work on the street furniture and nature.

Once Winterlude is over, all the knitwear will be recycled. The festival will run from February 5th to 22nd and is now in its 32nd year.ADNFCR-2444-ID-19569894-ADNFCR
