MERINO KNITWEAR CONFERENCE IN FRANCE
The Merino industry gathered last week to discuss various issues affecting the sector.
At the eighth World Merino conference, held in Ramouillet, France, demonstrations and talks were held from May 3rd-5th.
Bergerie Nationale was the site of the conference, which has an important role in the industry and is known for its flock of Merino sheep.
A number of other breeds were on show throughout the event, which could give knitwear enthusiasts an insight into the industry.
And breeders from around the world met to discuss aspects of the herds, including shearing and using the wool for production.
Organisers of the conference explain the World Merino Breeders' Federation was established in 1986 and now has nine member countries, including France and Australia.
The rams and ewes that took part in the event made the trip to Rambouillet and started the expedition last month.
A number of them were said to have traced the journey made by the first flock of Merino sheep to arrive to the area in 1786.
