MSP Stewart Stevenson will learn about the yarn industry during a visit to the Knockando Woolmill at Aberlour, Scotland, it has emerged.

The climate change minister will look at how the site is assisting climate change targets, the Associated Press has revealed.

According to the Knockando Woolmill Trust, the mills have played a large role in the production of wool knitwear for hundreds of years.

Now A-listed, the group of buildings in the Spey Valley still houses some of the original machinery used to create textiles centuries ago.

Some £9,122 worth of funding was given to the trust to assist with the cost of emission-cutting wool insulation in the structures.

And Mr Stevenson will visit the site to see how this - and other funds from the Scottish government - are being spent, the international news agency noted.

Knockando Woolmill "has always been at the heart of the local community", the trust states, with parish records dating back to 1784 mentioning the mill.
