SUPPORT YARN INDUSTRY AT GREAT YORKSHIRE SHOW
Britons may wish to show their support for the UK's wool and yarn industry by heading to the Great Yorkshire Show, held from July 13th-15th.
Organisers reveal this year's event is a record breaker, with the highest-ever number of advanced tickets sold on July 6th.
Around 125,000 visitors are expected to attend the Harrogate showground to join in with the activities.
Wool knitwear enthusiasts may be interested in watching the sheep demonstrations, with 1,952 sheep entries to the livestock classes.
Honorary show director Bill Cowling says this is also a great chance for visitors to show their support for the industry.
"It would be a great shame if we missed this chance to remind people of the value of wool and so help our hard-pressed sheep farmers," he states.
Those attending the sheep shearing demonstration and competition can sign up to the National Farmers Union petition to bring British wool to the London Olympics, with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society backing the campaign at the Great Yorkshire Show.
