SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS CREATED AT 'ECO-FRIENDLY FIBRE FARMS'
Fibre farms are becoming more common and allow for the production of sustainable materials, it has been claimed.
Sheep, llamas and alpacas are raised on these sites and are then used for yarn production, according to app.com.
Linda Berry Walker owns Woods Edge Alpaca Farm - the largest alpaca and llama farm in New Jersey, US - and was quoted by the forum explaining the benefits of the establishments.
"Since we all wear clothes, fibre is as significant as the food we eat. Fibre farms are sustainable [and] eco-friendly," she stated.
Ladies' knitwear may be rising in popularity, as the website noted a number of crochet and knitting groups have been established across New Jersey.
Ms Berry Walker revealed an added benefit to alpaca wool, which she claimed is "one of nature's only hypoallergenic fibres".
The wool can also be useful in duvets, because it creates a dry environment where dust mites cannot survive.
