WOOL KNITWEAR "A WARDROBE STAPLE"
Wool knitwear - such as a mens jumper or ladies cardigan - may currently be more popular than ever.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, garments made from the sustainable material are now a "wardrobe staple".
This is true of long cardigans, the publication explained, adding: "Short cardigans are replacing jackets."
Amy Williams, chair of the fashion program at California College of the Arts, told the publication this is due to a development in jackets that has seen them soften to meet the trend of the "boyfriend look".
"There is so much more creativity in knitwear, with designers using a mixture of yarns the way a fabric designer can't," she was quoted as saying.
And the autumn pieces are likely to be purchased in neutral shades of camel, beige and winter whites, the article noted.
This follows comments in the Los Angeles Times, which said shoppers will be snapping up ensembles in camel shades, after the trend was established on the catwalks earlier in the year.
