WOOL KNITWEAR CREATION "HAS SURGED IN POPULARITY"
Wool knitwear is increasingly popular and many people are trying their hand at knitting, it is reported.
The comments follow an event organised by Burnley Council and local artists, which saw wool knitwear created in the town over the weekend.
"Knitting has surged in popularity as people look for cheap and creative ways to make useful items like scarves, hats, cosies and decorative pieces," Rachel Hawthorn, the council's arts engagement officer, told the Burnley Citizen.
The Big Knit Day took place on Saturday (June 19th) and locals were invited to bring their knitting needles to the town centre and enjoy the craft alongside other enthusiasts.
A knitted garden had been created for people to explore and experts were on hand to teach novices some of the basics.
Prior to the day, organisers asked attendees to bring their own addition to the knitted garden and provided patterns for items such as birds, flowers and bunting.
