WOOL KNITWEAR FARMERS GATHER AT COUNTRY SHOW
Wool knitwear farmers met at Somerset's Royal Bath and West Show, where they revealed their thoughts on the state of the industry.
Many were "cautiously optimistic" about the impact the new government will have on the sector, the Salisbury Journal reported.
There has recently been an upturn in wool prices, but the publication reminded readers this is in relation to an "all-time low".
Sheep farmers attended the show, held on June 2nd-5th, where many exhibited their animals and demonstrated various skills involved with farming.
Youngsters took part in grooming the farm animals and the publication explained they seemed "plainly at ease with each other".
As well as the traditional stalls at the show, there were also a number of commercial booths and events concerning agricultural issues.
Sheep breeds that were on display included Shetlands and the famous Wiltshire Horne, which has dog-like hair rather than a wool fleece, organisers revealed.
