The origins of wool knitwear were demonstrated over the weekend, as thousands of people attended the Royal Cornwall Show.

Held on June 10th-12th, the event featured a number of displays dedicated to the wool industry and agricultural topics.

On Saturday (June 12th), farmers showcased the shearing process, before revealing wool rolling and spinning techniques.

And a shearing contest was held to highlight the work of some of the industry's most skilled employees.

Cam Ferguson from New Zealand won the final of the competition on Friday and has previously succeeded at Golden Shears events held throughout the world.

The 26-year-old is now said to be in preparation for the World Shearing Championship, due to be held in Wales next month.

Fleece grading was also on offer during the Cornish event, with organisers allowing visitors to watch how the complicated task is completed.

A large range of sheep were displayed at the show, where people were encouraged to ask questions and learn about the different breeds.
