COULD RELAXING IN LADIES SLIPPERS ASSIST SLEEP?
Relaxing before bedtime by wearing a pair of ladies slippers and comfortable clothing may be one way to get a decent amount of slumber.
Jessica Alexander of the Sleep Council warns there are many negative consequences of a lack of sleep, which can have both mental and physical effects.
"Sleep enables our bodies physically to rest and repair themselves, but even more important is what happens in our brains while we sleep in terms of processing information," the expert notes.
In the past Ms Alexander has advocated enjoying de-stressing activities in the evening, such as reading a book or meditating.
And wearing ladies slippers and a cosy outfit while doing these things may be a help to some people.
The expert says concentration tends to be lacking among those who have not experienced a good night's sleep.
This can make it harder to process information and deal with everyday matters, she warns.
