UGG STYLE BOOTS 'A BIG TREND OF THE EARLY NOUGHTIES'
The emergence of Ugg style boots as a fashion must-have has been named as one of the biggest footwear moments of the past decade by a shoe store owner.
Danny Wasserman of Tip Top Shoes told Women's Wear Daily's Footwear News that Ugg style boots, as well as wellies and flip-flops, were among the shoes that defined the first decade of the 21st century.
Jack Minuk, executive vice president and general merchandise manager of the shoe division of US department store Nordstrom echoed this statement, noting that Ugg style footwear has emerged as "a truly definitive product that has sustained growth like no other this past decade".
He commented that one of the major footwear trends in the past ten years has been the increasing influence of celebrities on consumers.
Among the Hollywood fans of Ugg style boots are Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker, who was snapped sporting a pair recently as she braved the chilly New York weather, as well as Catherine Zeta Jones, who was also spotted in the footwear while leaving a Broadway theatre in the Big Apple last week.
