WOULD YOU AUCTION OFF YOUR LADIES SLIPPERS?
Mens and ladies slippers are often bought for a simple purpose - to keep feet warm and their wearers feeling comfortable.
But bidders are being offered the chance to purchase the items as a piece of memorabilia, in a sale coming up next month.
Slippers previously owned by financier Bernie Madoff are set to be auctioned on November 13th, in an attempt to earn money to compensate victims of his famous swindle.
Last year, Madoff was found guilty of defrauding rich investors and taking their money in the largest ever Ponzi scheme and sentenced to 150 years in prison.
The black velvet slippers are lined with red material and have his initials embroidered across the front in gold thread.
Alongside the footwear, other items taken from Madoff's property to be auctioned include pieces of jewellery and a Steinway piano.
Joseph Guccione, US marshal for the Southern District of New York, said: "These pieces are the last of what once occupied the homes and lives of Bernard and Ruth Madoff's residences."
