ACTIVIST: THROWAWAY FASHION SHOULD BE BANNED IN FAVOUR OF ETHICAL CLOTHING

Ethical clothing has been named as one of the things that need to be encouraged by a leading activist.

Caroline Higginson, from Labour Behind The Label, has told Ethical Consumer magazine that throwaway fashion should be banned due to the practices that are used to create it.

She says that the only way these items can be created is by techniques and methods which exploit the workforce.

In addition, she highlights the impact that fashion which does not match up to ethical clothing standards has on natural resources.

Ms Higginson says: "Someone, somewhere, is paying the price for that product. Fashion should be about beautiful clothes that we treasure."

Patrick Holden, director of the Soil Association, told the news provider that organic cotton is among his favourite green products, highlighting the value of ethical clothing.

Earlier this month, the Ethical Fashion Forum's Elizabeth Laskar told Ode Magazine that the image of ethical clothing is improving.ADNFCR-2444-ID-19327174-ADNFCR
