CAPES 'TO BE MUST-HAVE COATS THIS SEASON'
A cape may be the ideal accompaniment to a ladies cashmere jumper this winter, as the garment is due to be popular in the colder months.
That is the view of Rhiannon Harries, writing for the Independent, who said the sleeveless outerwear has appeared in numerous catwalk shows.
"The act of slinging a cape around one's shoulders pretty much sums up the appeal of what will, if designers have their way, be the outerwear of the season," she remarked, adding the item manages to be "relaxed [and] artless" while at the same time theatrical and "dynamic".
Ms Harries noted capes can get more attention than regular jackets such as a parka or peacoat, something that can be important for the British winter, where people come to be "partly defined" by the coat as they spend so much time wearing them.
Camel could be a popular colour for capes this season, with the fashion world treating the shade as one of the must-haves for the cooler months.
