Ladies slippers and other comfortable clothes may be useful for those looking to relax in an evening.
According to Neil Shah, director of the Stress Management Society, people need to pay more attention to the act of winding down.
He says adults should adopt the same methods as children before going to bed at night, which will put their minds at ease and allow the body to prepare for sleep.
The expert suggests taking a warm bath, reading a bedtime story and drinking a cup of milk.
He explains watching television or reading the paper is not necessarily going to relax people, as the brain is still active when carrying out such activities.
Research from Oxford University and the US National Institutes of Health found women who are trying for a baby could increase their chances of getting pregnant by adopting relaxation techniques.
Women may find it relaxing to get changed into comfortable clothes and ladies slippers in order to feel at ease.
