One writer has described how ethical clothing plays a role in her girly - but sustainable - nights out with friends.

In a blog post for Journal Live, Anna Heywood explained that as she has gotten older, the constraints of family life means her days of partying are not what they used to be.

However, she added that every now and then she still gets the chance to scrub up and don her favourite clothes for an evening on the town, which usually means reaching for her favourite piece of ethical clothing.

She described her experience of shopping online for such products and noted that very often she is asked where she acquires her sustainable apparel.

"The clothes are so interesting and unique," she concluded. "They are reasonably priced which is amazing when you consider the work and effort that goes into their ethical supply chains and manufacturing methods."

According to a recent report from Research and Markets, the market for such clothing could be worth £175 million in the UK by the end of 2009.
