GOLF TO DRIVE DEMAND FOR LADIES CASHMERE JUMPERS?
Ladies cashmere jumpers may be set to grow in popularity as a result of the impending Ryder Cup, following comments from one industry commentator.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Golf Development Wales's development manager Zoe Thacker explained how the body's main priority at the moment is persuading more females in the country to pick up a putter.
Since the association's inception in 2002, close to 10,000 women and girls have completed its beginner's scheme, with around 4,000 going on to become members of golf clubs, the news provider stated.
Furthermore, the publication noted Scottish golfwear company Glenmuir recently predicted a surge in sales of golf clothing, which may include ladies jumpers, among females due to the appearance of Katherine Jenkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones at the upcoming Ryder Cup celebration concert.
"It's been really, really important for the image of golf to change," Ms Thacker added.
The Ryder Cup is set to tee off at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on October 1st.
