Knitwear can prove an essential addition to summer outfits, not just winter ones, it has been suggested.
Writing on her fashion blog for the Register, home and garden editor for the publication Cindy McNatt listed ladies knitwear under her "five summer must-haves".
As she explained, people can never rely on hot weather during the summer.
A pretty cardigan could prove the ideal accompaniment to a floaty dress once the sun starts to go down.
One summer essential chosen by Ms McNatt was a cable-knit cardigan with pockets, which she described as "super cosy when the wind kicks up".
"Scarves come in handy not only for keeping warm, but for drying your hands when you wash them in a stream," she suggested for those who may take to the countryside for walks and other activities.
In a previous post the fashion writer said white jeans prove popular once summer approaches, with jeggings and shorts in this colour also providing a shot of style.
